More about Jon Gerlach

Jon has a unique and diverse skill set and an array of interests and experiences, both professionally and personally, belying the conventional belief that lawyers are impersonal and boring.  Clients rave about the care and attention, combined with the skill and dedication that he brings to every client and case.

As a trained archeologist, Jon brings the same eagle-eye and safety-conscious approach to practicing law that he used to unearth America’s past. He has an uncanny eye for detail and focuses on every small facet of his client’s particular situation.  Yet he keeps focused on the big picture by visualizing, ahead of time, the desired end result. With this vision firmly in his head and his fingers on the details, he can then help his clients focus on the big picture, to understand and accomplish what is really in their best interests. His clients confidently rely on him for that very reason.

Jon has thirty-five years of experience as a trusted advisor to individuals and corporate clients and a strong dedication to his community.  His practice includes:

Wills & Trusts

Business & Commercial Law

Insurance Business Law

Civil Litigation

Nonprofit Organizations

Education

Jon graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond, VA in 1987.

Prior to law school, Jon did his undergraduate studies in archaeology and art history at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.  After his tenure as a field supervisor and research assistant at the Illinois State Museum, he went on to earn a Master's Degree in archaeology at Arizona State University, where he directed a summer field project in the Sonoran Desert.  Jon became a Registered Professional Archaeologist and worked on countless digs, honing his skills in information analysis, synthesis, and communication.
